Brandy is the owner, operator and an educator of Wildflowers Forest School. She opened Wildflowers Forest School in 2014 in order to provide a space for children to be outside and learn about the world around us through all seasons. Brandy’s goal is to create a community of resilient, active children through inspirational, stimulating, hands on experiences and play based education that will foster self-esteem, confidence, creativity and responsibility.

Brandy enjoys working with people of all ages and has been teaching for many years. Brandy is a Certified Forest School Practitioner and an Ontario Certified Teacher, she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, and Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate. Brandy loves spending time outdoors not only with her classes, but also with her husband and three sons. She enjoys helping people of all ages experience the world of wonder that can be found in nature.

Sarah Pittao-Smith

Sarah is a passionate teacher and community volunteer excited to share her love of nature, mindfulness and movement with children of all ages. Sarah graduated from Western University with a degree in Childhood and Family Relations in 2007. After several years working to develop Affordable Housing for families, Sarah enrolled at Lakehead University to pursue her passion for teaching children inside the classroom and outside through nature. She graduated with a degree in Education and never looked back. Sarah has taught in both private and public schools and travelled abroad to teach English and immerse herself in new cultures.

While teaching in a Montessori classroom, Sarah was introduced to Forest School as part of the school’s curriculum. She loved spending one afternoon a week deep in the forest watching the children interact with each other and the natural world.

Sarah believes we have so much to learn from being together and exploring. Using our senses, physical movement and creativity we have the ability to really experience and be part of our own learning.

In addition to teaching, Sarah is a yoga instructor and volunteers teaching seniors exercise classes. She loves to spend her time outdoors hiking in the woods and relaxing near the shores of Lake Huron.

Savannah Stuart

Savannah is always grateful for days of play, questioning, wondering, exploring and adventure in the forest. She holds an honours degree in Ecology from the University of Guelph. After completing the WIld Deer wilderness skills course at the P.I.NE project, she has worked with the P.I.N.E project’s community outdoor school and the Guelph Outdoor School. Over the last few years, she has observed many children blossom, grow, and find confidence through outdoor programming
