Wildflowers Forest School Programs

Perfect for families who wish to combine Forest School programming with the traditional school environment, on-line learners or for those who are homeschooled.

At Wildflowers Forest School, in Waterloo, youth will:

  • Create a meaningful connection to nature, themselves and each other through team building games, tool use & creativity, storytelling, free play and ample time to explore the wonders of the forest around them.

  • Develop skills in self-sufficiency, competency, self-awareness & stewardship.

  • Discover themselves, test boundaries and explore the natural world!

  • Participate in a variety of activities designed to enhance their capacity for self-sufficiency, co-operation, and creativity.

  • Express and release their energy in healthy and active ways while enjoying the peaceful setting of the woods.

 

Wildflowers Forest School is situated on approximately 100-acres of land called Bechtel Park in Waterloo, Ontario. It offers many different types of vegetation, ecosystems, habitats, woodlot, and the Laurel Creek floodplain.

Spring Forest School Program Details

  • Wednesday Wildwoods Full Day (5-13yrs)

    Wednesdays: 9:30am-3:30pm  Start: April. 3rd, 2024
    Fee: $816/12 weeks + HST

    Who doesn’t love a day out in the woods?During this full day program children will express and release their energy in healthy and active ways while enjoying the peaceful setting of the woods.

    They will create a meaningful connection to nature, themselves and each other through team building games, nature-based crafts, free play, and ample time to explore the wonders of the forest around them.

  • Trailblazers Mondays (6- 13yrs)

    Mondays: 1:00pm-3:30pm  Start: April 8th, 2024 * No class May 20

    Fee: $300/10 weeks +HST

    Nature is such a powerful source of creative inspiration!  Join us in an afternoon filled with skill building, games, tool use, storytelling and forest exploration. Learn not only how to use , build and explore with various tools and art materials, but also gain the confidence in your ability to create from nature.

  • Adventurers Tuesdays (4-9yrs)

    Tuesdays: 12:00pm-2:30pm  Start: April. 2nd, 2024
    Fee: $360/12 weeks +HST

    A perfect way to start the week and spend a Tuesday afternoon would be strolling through a beautiful forest, playing in a giant fort, building with sticks, playing alongside local flora and fauna, and letting the imagination soar through storytelling and free play.

  • Explorers Thursdays (4-9 yrs)

    Thursdays: 12:00pm-2:30pm  Start: April. 4th, 2024   
    Fee: $360/12 weeks +HST

    Join us in a light-hearted and play-based afternoon in the woods! In this program children will connect with nature and discover the world around them through nature walks, sensory games, child-lead play and craft circles.

  • Fox & Kits (Parent & Tot Programs; 18mths-6yrs)

    Tuesdays & Thursdays (18mths-5yrs) or Fridays(2-6yrs): 9:30am-11:00am Start: April. 2nd, 4th & 5th, 2024
    Fee: $168/12 weeks + HST

    Join us in this program where families with children have the opportunity to learn and share stories, songs, nature crafts, and mini adventures through the trees, and to bond deeply with each other, other families, and the family of the forest.

    Parent/Caregiver must be present during classes

  • Fee Assistance

    Please ask about our fee assistance program if fees are an obstacle for you. We try to make all our programs as accessible as possible for all those who wish to participate.
